Deltans have benefited from Uduaghan’s administration – Bishop Onekpe
By OBI CHIEJILE
THE Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s one year in office as the chief executive of the state has profited all Deltans one way or the other, especially the poverty-stricken Deltans who form a large proportion of the population of the state.
This view was expressed by the Bishop of the Diocese of Ika, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend (Dr.) Peter Imhona Onekpe (JP) while congratulating Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for completing 365 days in office with resounding success.
Right Reverend Onekpe said that from observations. Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s one year in office has been adjudged very successful and rewarding as the people’s high expectations of even distribution of the dividends of democracy across the state from him, are gradually unfolding.
He pointed out that Governor Uduaghan’s gradual and reassuring successful administration is contingent upon the wise choice of his three point-agenda of human capital and infrastructural development, peace and security with which the governor is doing Deltans proud.
Bishop Onekpe who asserted that the continued prayers from the House of Bishops and Laity have contributed to the governor doing wonderfully well and congratulated Dr. Uduaghan on his victory in the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal at Asaba.
The cleric while calling on Deltans not to scuttle the Governor’s three-point agenda, commended the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Sir (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa; the state civil commissioners, police, allied security operatives and the entire workforce in the private and public service for partnering with the governor in all his endeavours to lift the state to the next level of development.
Bishop Onekpe who gave a pat on the back of pressmen in the state print and electronic media for assisting in publicizing the policies and activities in the state government and its people, urged them not to relent in creating more information and awareness about government activities and policies.
He therefore congratulated pressmen for contributing remarkably towards the success story of Governor Uduaghan within the one year under review, just as he congratulated the out-gone, Manager News/Current Affairs, Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, Prince Yali Iyeke for his meritorious service in the mass media world for 35 years.
In a related development, the Bishop’s wife, Dame Mercy Yetunde Onekpe (JP) has joined in congratulating the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Roli Sheila Uduaghan for the successes being recorded by the husband in the administration of the state.
Meanwhile, Bishop Onekpe has said that Ika Diocesan Synod for 2008, would hold at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Ute-Okpu from Saturday, June 7 to Monday, June 10, 2008.
